Man with chicken.
The grocery store's fried chicken took off on social media after 31-year-old Alexander Tominsky, a waiter at a Philadelphia restaurant, announced he had lost 16 pounds in 40 days.
The secret, he told the New York Times, is to eat a whole fried chicken a day and nothing else. A photo of Chowhound, for example, shows a picture of chicken with onions.
Tominski first tweeted about the chicken run on Oct. 8: "I ate fried chicken every day for 30 days. Today is day 11. I'll update you all as I get closer to my goal."
Since then, every day, chicken fans have stuck with him, posting pictures of him with chickens at restaurants, indoors and outdoors amid autumn leaves. Out of the planned 30 days, Tominski gathered a crowd of foodies to watch him swallow his 40th chicken to complete the marathon on November 6.
The bird food comes years after Star Wars actor Adam Driver made headlines for eating it during his time at Juilliard.
Driver told GK that early in his acting career, he commuted from his home in Queens to classes in Manhattan to stay in shape and ate a whole fried chicken with six eggs every morning.
Driver's former classmate at Juilliard, Scott Aiello, recalled Driver in an episode of the "Film Reroll" podcast, "a whole chicken in one area and a bucket of water in the other." A chicken supermarket sweep can be a stepping stone to a broken driver's body.
Recently, social media influencer Tinx was spotted slaughtering store-bought birds in her kitchen, but not for nutritional reasons. Although nutritionists do not support a special diet based on poultry, they say that such a menu allows you to lose weight in a short time.
"It's not a healthy way to live long-term, but [you can lose weight] if you eat what you need for the day and nothing else. Protein is filling," Lisa Young, registered dietitian and author of The Portion Counter Plan, told The Post. .
"You don't get the fiber, but the protein keeps you full, and that's really good. A whole chicken has about 1,000 calories, so it's still considered a low-calorie diet. It's possible [to lose weight], but I don't 't. You don't have a 'stamp' as an endorsement of healthy eating.
Skin-on fried chicken contains 162 grams of protein and 53 grams of fat, according to estimates from the MyFitnessPal app. According to the Harvard Health Report, the recommended amount of protein in the diet for an individual is 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight.
It's not clear how Tominski, the oddball, eats Marathon out of the ordinary scene. As she lost weight, she realized that the high sodium at the end of the chicken meal had taken its toll on her body, at which point "I felt my heart pounding in my stomach."
For anyone trying a diet that is financially viable, he recommends getting rid of young skin.
"I recommend peeling and eating a balanced diet, adding fruits and vegetables," says Young.
