'I Would Do Some Messed Up Things For Pizza': Justin Thomas Talks About His New Healthyliving Diet

Charlotte: If you've ever tried a gluten and dairy free diet, even for a month, you can probably imagine what Justin Thomas is going through right now. The difference for Thomas is that he's been doing this for three months now, and the way he talked about pizza at the Wells Fargo championship on Tuesday reminded him of a cartoon wolf with his tongue hanging out and an apron around his neck. Or maybe Homer Simpson sipping a cold Dough Beer.

Aside from his fear of melanoma in 2019, Thomas has always been relatively healthy, which is why he felt so terrible last year as the combination of heat and illness wore him down week after week. Ironically, one of his worst moments came earlier in the week at the PGA Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a tournament he won. It didn't stop there.

“It was very hot in Mexico and I’m sure my stomach still hurt,” she said, “but I was really dehydrated and felt bad.” And then I went back to Atlanta that Sunday to finish the year. When I finished, I went to the locker room and vomited what I had eaten all day."

Every time he was exposed to heat, the same thing happened: he ended the day incredibly tired and woke up the next morning weak. He decided that he needed to check it out, and the doctor. Ara Supia for blood test and consultation. Due to a food intolerance, Thomas decided to go on a gluten-free diet for a whole year and give up dairy products for six months.

Now, three months after that trip (and right after celebrating his 30th birthday), Thomas feels healthier and more energetic, and feels that his mobility has improved. This does not mean that you are running away from lust. "I want pizza that you can't imagine," she said. “For example, I will be doing very dirty things for freshly baked pizza on the farm.”

(You will inevitably be criticized for embellishing this statement, even if you are absolutely right.)

It is unclear if this helps him in his game. In the 2022-2023 season, he missed just one cut out of 10 starts (Masters), but managed only two top-ten finishes, and currently sits at an incredibly low 71st in the FedEx Cup standings. Thomas believes that good results are just around the corner and at the moment he is mostly lacking in momentum and a few good breaks; Noted John Rahm, who had a disappointing run by his standards before catching fire in 2022.

Back to the diet: when asked if she had found any new foods she liked, her expression immediately made it clear that nothing could make up for what was missing. “Sometimes I drink and go out into the fresh air,” she joked.

The services of Chef Michael Parker have made it easy for you, even if you still face difficulties while traveling or on vacation. "I have to be the guy who tells the waitress or the waiter what's going on," he said.

Today Thomas eats a lot of steaks, chicken, fish, rice, vegetables and salads. At the next PGA Dinner of Champions in Oak Hill, you will have several options for a customized diet. It was a full six months before he could be tested again, but his sacrifice had almost given him hope.

“Of course, I hope it works, because it’s bad that you can’t eat anything good,” he said. “But if I don’t try, I don’t know if it will work, you know what I mean?”
