Former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama created a healthy food and beverage company aimed at fighting childhood obesity.
While in the White House, the former first lady led the Let's Move campaign to end childhood obesity. He announced his latest work at the Wall Street Journal's Future of Everything Festival on Wednesday, May 3.
"Not only do we hope to bring healthy and delicious drinks and snacks to kids, but we hope to launch a contest that will change the entire food industry," Obama declared at the PLEZi Nutrition press conference. "Because let's face it, even after everything we've done in the White House over the years, it's really hard for kids to grow up healthy."
Obama is the co-founder and strategic partner of PLEZi Nutrition, a company led by a team of experts in public health, nutrition, and parenting.
PLEZi Nutrition has launched its first product, Kids' Fruit Juice, in four flavors that contain 75% less sugar than the average 100% fruit juice.

PLEZi is now available at select major retailers including Target, Walmart.com and Sprouts Farmers Market.
In a press release, the company announced plans to launch more healthy snacks and drinks that "focus on reducing sugar content and sweetness to help kids discover sweet things."
PLEZi said the new drink is aimed at children between the ages of 6 and 12 and is designed to replace soft drinks. The drinks contain no added sugar and contain approximately 35 calories per bottle of water with fruit juice and stevia leaf extract as the main ingredient.

"That's why we created PLEZi as a worry-free alternative: It has less sugar than other drinks, less sweeteners and nutrients like fiber and potassium," said the former first lady. "Most importantly, it's good! Because if it doesn't taste good, kids won't like it."
The healthy soft drink brand currently offers four flavors: Tropical Punch, Orange Shake, and Apple and Blueberry Burst. At Target.com, PLEZi sells for $3.50 for 8 ounces. one ounce bottles.
Obama said the company announced it would donate $1 million to FoodCorps, a nonprofit organization working to ensure that 50 million college students in America get free school lunches and nutrition education by 2030.
PLEZi Nutrition donates 10% of its profits to a broader movement to improve children's nutrition.
