My Skin Is So Dry. Whats The Best Wrinkle Cream On The Market?

With so many anti-wrinkle creams and serums out there, I'm often asked, "Which anti-wrinkle cream is the best ?" The answer is that there is no one-size-fits-all best wrinkle cream. Because each of Bauman's 16 skin types has different needs.

When choosing an anti-wrinkle cream, there are four main aspects to consider depending on your skin type:

Dehydration

Inflammation

Irregular pigmentation

Why does your skin age?

Each of these issues affects how your skin looks as you age and what it needs to look and feel younger and healthier.

dry and sensitive skin

For example, if you have dry, red and sensitive skin with wrinkles, you need anti-aging products that soothe and hydrate it. Look for anti-inflammatory and antioxidant ingredients like Crepidiastrum denticulatum leaf/stem extract, Sauurus chinensis extract, glycerin and hyaluronic acid in a barrier-repairing moisturizing base with ceramides, fatty acids and cholesterol.

An example of an anti-aging cream that contains antioxidants is Revision Skin Care's DEJ Face Cream.

Although hyaluronic acid is often added to anti-inflammatory wrinkle creams, it is not the best anti-aging serum as its results are temporary. I prefer to use hyaluronic acid serums for better absorption of other ingredients such as vitamin C serums, retinoids and exosomes for long lasting results.

dry and pigmented skin

If you have dry, wrinkled skin with dark spots, you'll need anti-aging cream ingredients that contain unsaturated fatty acids like linoleic acid to help get rid of dark spots while hydrating your skin. Combining this type of moisturizer with vitamin C and a retinoid is a good anti-aging strategy for dry skin.

Please note that anti-wrinkle products, retinoids, and vitamin C must be in separate vials to be effective and will not work in combination in the same product. So this skin type needs these three products in addition to daily sun protection.

Skin prone to rosacea

Thin, flaky skin prone to redness, rosacea, and retinoid intolerance thrives best with a rosacea care regimen that includes soothing ingredients like argan oil or Plated Skin Science's new Exosome Serum. This serum gently increases collagen production and reduces the number of sensitive or aging cells.

Peptide creams

Many anti-wrinkle creams that contain peptides are a waste of money because most peptides are too large to effectively penetrate the deeper layers of the skin, which is what it would take to slow down aging. However, the peptides found in the skin care brand Alastin have been shown to aid in faster recovery after laser treatment. I advise patients to use this product two weeks prior to Ulthera and other laser treatments for best results.

Bottom line

"What's the best wrinkle cream?" when asked, my answer is always the same: it depends on your Baumann skin type.
