Healthy And Hungry, Cold Spring Harbor's Ready To Go

Cold Spring Harbor is attempting to pay off the debt.

Capping off a major senior class battling for a regional title in 2021, injuries forced the Seahawks to a 7-2 in their first three games last fall.

Three seniors on either side of the ball suffered injuries at the end of the season, leaving the sophomores with no choice but to spend a lot of time in key roles and face extra pressure.

It didn't stop the young players of the team. In fact, it made her even hungrier.

“It was like losing the top six players. "It definitely hit us," said coach John Mendreski. "The mood and spirit of the kids this season is great." They fear no one, that's for sure. That will help this season. All of this tends to increase.

Cold Spring Harbor started seven sophomores, including quarterback Sam Bruno.

"He has great football intelligence and is a great athlete," said Mendreski. "He was the right man to replace CJ Reilly as quarterback. We expect him to be a leader on that side of the ball this season due to his great junior class.”

And what makes this Seahawks defense effective?

Mendreski said, "Reagan Reilly is our greatest weapon. He has the ability to control the game when he wants to.

“We have a lot of returnees in defence. That's our strength," said Reilly, a midfielder who had 43 tackles and three sacks last season. "But I think we need to work together as a team to reach our potential."

IV. Cold Spring Harbor, the sixth seed of the conference, meets top seed North Shore on September 9th.

Reilly added: "We're really excited to play at the North Shore but right now the focus is on us. Just keep your head down and keep working and good things will happen.”
