What's for dinner at Rockers? The TODAY co-host revealed her food preferences in a new interview highlighting her favorite foods and recipes.
His philosophy is, "Surround yourself with the best food. The best food is fresh produce, and what the local farmer's market has to offer," he told AARP Magazine in a Dec. 6 article.
He has been a patron of the Hudson, New York Farmers Market for over 20 years.
“The good thing about farmers markets is that you are all served,” he said. “You get pure organic food from the people who grow and produce it.”
These days, the 69-year-old meteorologist enjoys the social aspect of farmers markets. Her shopping list includes fresh vegetables, herbs and fresh fish.
For dinner, Al says he and his wife, Deborah Roberts, eat at home four or five nights a week.
“I eat a lot of fish, a lot of chicken, just olive oil, salt, pepper and spices. "Good quality protein, lots of vegetables, and the best spices to add flavor," he told AARP.
"The soup takes a long time to prepare. I keep it simple," adds Al, which is why most of the dishes are grilled or fried.
As for dessert, he believes moderation is key, so that it has a particular taste. “You don't have to eat everything,” he said, “You can eat a lot, but don't eat too much.”
After dinner, Al and his wife went for a walk—ending a healthy meal in a healthy way. Studies show that walking after eating can help you lose weight.
“I feel great… I feel like I'm back to 100%,” Al told TODAY.com in November, after a year in the hospital.
