In Ohio, coalition personnel can't go whale hunting, so the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California, brings the whales to the Rodman Public Library — of course, of course. As part of the One Book One community program, patrons can participate in the program from home or come to the library and watch on the big screen in the auditorium at 11 a.m. or 7 p.m. Tuesday 13 February. Participants will first learn what a naturalist or explorer brings to the boat and how to look for whales before “going out to sea” to look for them. A combination of photos and videos are used to explore several whales, including Blue 55 in Lynn Kelly's Whale Song, a 2024 selection. Aquarium staff talk about the whales' adaptations and habitats. Members, whether in person or virtually, must register at Rodmanlibrary.com. Those who have registered to watch the program will receive instructions during registration. The One Book One Community program is supported by Friends of the Rodman Public Library, Greater Alliance Foundation, and Mountain Union University.
