Butter and baked potatoes go well with peanut butter and jelly or peas and carrots. And for most of us, our inexpensive and very affordable grilled scarves are no match for fancy and decadent tops. However, if you're a fan of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills , you've probably noticed one of the cast's flagship fries served with one meal.
Until the last season of RHOBH aired, most of us didn't know that caviar, often used in cocktails and enjoyed in small amounts over crackers or delicious mini pancakes, could be used as a topping in our favorite dungeon scene. - vegetables grown with starch and used in the diet of adults. Thanks to Kathy Hilton, we now know that a dollop of caviar with butter, sour cream and a dollop of pearls is (definitely) something.
In case you missed it , in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 11, Kathy Hilton, mother of friends Paris and Nicky Hilton, has an intimate dinner with her sister Kyle, to whom she serves baked potatoes. Katie's plate reveals how much she enjoys eating the caviar-encrusted sponge, much to the surprise of her sister and many in attendance.
“I did it like I did it at Caspia Caviar in Paris,” the matriarch of the Hilton family explained to little sister Kylie, carefully scooping black caviar balls into her baked potato.
Without a doubt, baked potato stuffed with caviar is an Instagram-worthy delicacy. But for those who are trying to live a healthy lifestyle, the question may arise whether this combination is healthy or not. As a registered dietitian (and an avid Katie Hilton fan), I know whether the famous potato caviar dish can be part of a healthy diet. This is what I found.
What is caviar?
The main ingredients of this popular caviar-potato pairing on the reality show are plain baked potatoes, caviar, butter, and tamarind sauce. While caviar is not a regular potato, it can be added to many recipes. The most common way to eat this dish is with toast.
So what are these little balls that cost a dime and add flavor to any dish?
Caviar is produced from unfertilized eggs and sturgeon is traditionally used as the fish of choice. Minnow eggs are cleaned, sorted and salted before being frozen, dried and packaged.
In short, when people eat caviar, they eat eggs that are unfertilized, washed, salted, cold, and probably aged. In some circles, the term caviar can be used to refer to salted and boiled eggs in addition to sturgeon. But Katie Hilton's dinner side dish is classic sturgeon caviar with baked potatoes.

Is caviar useful?
When we think of healthy food, a bowl of caviar usually doesn't come to mind. But these fish eggs are surprisingly rich in healthy nutrients that many of us skip during the day.
According to the USDA, one ounce of caviar provides:
74 calories
7 grams of protein
1 gram carbohydrate
0 grams of added sugar
Caviar is also rich in trace elements. Just one ounce provides:
78 mg calcium
3 mg of iron
85 mg magnesium
18.6 mcg selenium
139 mg choline
5 mcg of vitamin B12
Caviar also contains lutein and zeaxanthin, carotenoids that support eye health, as well as vitamin D, an important nutrient that supports bone health.
One of the most obvious characteristics of caviar is the amount and type of fat. Nearly 20% of the 5 grams of fat in an ounce of caviar comes from the omega-3 fatty acid DHA, or healthy fat, which plays an important role in brain, eye and heart health. Caviar contains polyunsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, also known as "healthy fats," which most of us need more of in our diet.
Damage to caviar
While caviar offers an impressive range of nutrients, the flaws in the nutrition department stand out. At 425 milligrams of sodium per ounce of caviar (about 20% of the daily value), this meal may be too high in sodium for people on a low-sodium diet, depending on how much sodium they include in their leftovers.
In addition, some types of caviar can contain high levels of contaminants, including polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), brominated flame retardants, and potentially toxic metals. For people temporarily storing caviar for medical purposes, the amount of contaminants that would be consumed would not be sufficient to cause harm. But if you eat caviar with a spoon several times a day, you can give it a pumping break.
Foodborne illness is usually not associated with caviar consumption. But because most varieties of caviar are unpasteurized minnow eggs, there is a risk of food poisoning.
How about potatoes and spices?
It is clear that caviar contains many nutrients to support our overall health. But what you use as a caviar container can meet your healthy eating goals, depending on your choices.
The good news is that baked potatoes are a natural source of carbohydrates, fiber, vitamin C, vitamin B6 and other nutrients. This is a dish that is very easy to prepare and even tastier to eat.
As for butter and pickles, a little of each can add flavor and creaminess to a potato dish. But eating too many of these dairy products can lead to consuming too many saturated fats and calories.
there he is
The combination of one of the highest vegetables and one of the most accessible and inexpensive vegetables is an interesting dish. And those who enjoy the finer things in life can rest assured that these dishes made by Miss Hilton are packed with nutrients and can be a healthy part of a balanced diet. Caviar contains protein, healthy fats and lots of micronutrients, while potatoes contain carbohydrates and fiber. And while the yogurt and butter portions are set, adding these spices to the mix can add a unique flavor and richness. Enjoying this dish with side dishes and fruit for dessert, you can end your meal deliciously. But if one wants to stick with the caviar and potato combo, it can be satisfying as well as nutritious.
For those of us who don't live in the 90210 area and want to try French fries like Mrs. Hilton's "Hunky Dory", fortunately for us, caviar has a moment of availability that can be here. While classic sturgeon caviar remains expensive, there are other caviar options that can add similar flair to a dish without the high price tag. From salmon caviar to trout caviar to milkfish caviar, there are many types of eggs, also known as eggs, that don't fall under the definition of sturgeon caviar but still have a rich, aromatic taste.
So get started peeling your potatoes and whipping up a dollop of pearl oysters, knowing that you can enjoy some caviar once in a while and not completely derail your healthy eating goals. This dish is approved by Kathy Hilton and nutritionists.
