At the same time as dealing with bad relationships, a local organization showed what it takes to build healthy relationships and showcased the wisdom of several local students.
Serving children and adults in need demonstrates healthy relationships! The Community Rock Garden is open to the public this week at Parque Jovita Idar "El Progresso" at 5911 Thomas Avenue at Bartlett Avenue.
SCAN's Sexual Assault Information and Services Program launched the project in February to mark Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.
Many hikers and walkers in the park stop briefly to look at the display and feel that it is a beautiful statement that carries a good message.
"I really like all the colors and how the background of the grass helps them stand out when walking around," said Arturo Peña, a visitor to the event. “They also send a strong message that love is not about cursing or pleasing someone, but about doing things right as a couple. I think this is something that the younger generation should know when they start falling in love.
Marta Pena, who was with Arturo, said the rock park was beautiful and would add many exhibits to the already growing park.
"There are already so many little treasures hidden here and there in this park, which adds to the beauty as people come to see these beautifully painted stones and are reminded of what universal love is like," Pena said. "I hope people respect and love these stones."
