For Selena Gomez, beauty comes naturally .
This week, the Only Crimes in the Building actress showed off a collection of no-makeup photos on IG. Selena is constantly working to subvert social media and beauty standards, as seen in her hyper-sensitive documentary My Mind and Me , and this post is no exception.
“We are constantly bombarded with images and social media posts that make people feel like they have to achieve unattainable perfection,” Selena wrote in a 2020 article for CNN Style . Her post definitely showcased achievable beauty.
The 30-year-old singer simply wrote a "I" comment on his latest post.
Selena posted three candid selfies, two of which appear to have been taken at the same time. Thirdly, she looks out of place with slightly more curled hair. The singer only had natural waves that matted her makeup-free skin, revealing a few freckles.
Selena's celebrity friends and followers naturally liked the content. “Beautiful inside and out,” wrote one fan. Aubrey Plaza shot "😍". Nicola Peltz Beckham wrote: "The most beautiful of all 💘💘💘."
As the owner of Rare Beauty, it's no surprise that Selena prioritizes skincare. Selena isn't alone in launching her own beauty line (many stars like Hailey Bieber and Ariana Grande have their own beauty companies), but she hopes her brand is sending a different message.
“Building this brand was a way to have an open conversation about beauty and mental health,” she told Glamor UK in 2022.
In addition, Selena focuses not only on beauty standards in order to sell Rare Beauty products . The actress is sincerely interested in their case. She even shares some of her skincare routines on her TikTok account , and it's not always related to her brand's products.
For example, in a recent video where she takes off her makeup , she used micellar water from Bioderma (she also added the disclaimer that she received most of their products for free). On another TikTok, Selena shows off Paula's Choice Replenishing Toner before applying her Rare Beauty makeup .
Regardless of whether Selena expected her post to change beauty standards, she looked amazing. Keep killing, queen!
