For Hindus, Rakshabandhan, Navaratri, Dussehra, Durga Puja and Diwali are the most anticipated festivals of the year. All over the country, people celebrate these holidays with great fanfare and pageantry. During these festivals, especially Navratri, many people fast by abstaining from some or all foods such as grains, onions, garlic and beverages. However, while fasting, it is important to ensure that you are not depriving your body of vital nutrients. If not done properly, fasting can affect the health of your skin.

“You can fast safely without harming the health of your skin or derailing your weight loss goals by making your fasting diet more nutritious,” says Dr. Rinki Kapoor, MD, dermatologist, cosmetic dermatologist and skin surgeon at The Cosmetic Clinic.

How do you look good while fasting? Dr. Kapoor suggests incorporating some of these nutrient-rich foods into your fasting diet to help your skin look its best and reduce hunger.

Chia seeds

Soak some chia seeds overnight. Add a few drops of lemon juice in the morning and drink it in the morning. Or, you can add chia seeds to your regular bowl of fruit for added benefits. Chia seeds have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and thus help prevent the first signs of aging, acne and dry skin. It's high in fiber, so you'll feel fuller for longer.

Fruits are rich in vitamin C

There are many options in this group: oranges, tangerines, guavas, kiwis, papayas, blueberries, sweet potatoes, strawberries ... Vitamin C is essential for collagen production and its elasticity. It also takes care of uneven skin tone and dark spots and prevents hair fall, brittleness and thinning.

Dry fruits
